![]() I almost never pick +100% hp regeneration because I can just as easily heal in combat, so +1 armor or +1 damage is always more useful. You have to take them instead of other upgrades just so you don't have to artificially prolong combat to heal. ![]() Yes, but those are all different abilities that don't use the same resources. I mean it's hardly a groundbreaking innovation. Just add an "end combat" button so you can heal after the enemies are dead, and begin combat with a turn where every unit has just one action or can't cross a certain line. Sorry, but that's just stupid.Īnd it wouldn't even be hard to fix. I just had a fight where from turn 1 all of my units, most of which were ranged, were in melee. Which combines nicely with the third annoying thing: Why are some enemies already in range when the combat starts? I mean if the game told me that it was an ambush that would be fine, but it's just regular combat. So my units are heroic fantasy fighters that can take on monsters and dragons, but standing next to each other is too much to ask? Or like not being able to select a starting formation. I mean why can't the healer that absolutely can heal my units in combat not do the same thing when not in combat? At least let the player decide when combat ends so you can heal your units with the remaining focus points. I absolutely hate having to initiate combat in order to improve the health of my units. ![]() Like only being able to heal when in combat. They didn't like the immersion breaking system where only the unit that killed an opponent would get the experience, which led to the unrealistic strategy where you would try to intentionally not kill enemies so that your hero (or a unit with an interesting upgrade) could do it.Ĭonquest of Eo also solves that issue by just dividing up the experience (as far as I can tell).īut what I don't understand is why they stopped at that an left in some other highly annoying similar issues. I was thrilled when I heard that Age of Wonders III was being developed, but then they completely botched the experience system in a way that made it basically unplayable in multiplayer. I can't quite put my finger on it, but somehow it captures the feeling of Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and Are of Wonders 2, which in my book are the best parts of the serieses. ![]()
